Russian Far East to Receive over RUB 1 bln to Prevent and Control the Spread of the Coronavirus Disease

As instructed by Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation — Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the Far Eastern Federal District, the Far East and Arctic Region Development Fund (FEDF) has launched the project intended to assist the Far Eastern regions with preventing and controlling the spread of the coronavirus disease. Over RUB 1 bln will be allocated to that end from extrabudgetary sources.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Russian Far East will be subject to additional measures intended to prevent and control the spread of the coronavirus disease. “Our overriding priority is human life and health. The Russian Government is allocating funds to develop the disease prevention and diagnostics means and procure medical equipment and drugs. Additional measures are being adopted in the Russian regions. The development institutions’ potential is used to support the Russian Far East. The Far East and Arctic Region Development Fund was among the first institutions to join this initiative. The Fund will finance the purchase of additional personal protective and other items of equipment for healthcare facilities. This will ensure that the Far East residents are provided with high-quality and timely medical attention and prevention means”, Yuri Trutnev said.

The FEDF has joined efforts with the major companies implementing investment projects in the Russian Far East and running production facilities in this macroregion to allocate over RUB 1 bln for the purchase of personal protective and other items of equipment for healthcare facilities located in the Far East.

In addition, Yuri Trutnev instructed the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Region of the Russian Federation to coordinate the voluntary effort by the representatives of the business community and NGOs to provide assistance with countering the coronavirus disease and arrange for the possibility of allocating funds to the Far Eastern regions as part of the funding intended for the development of the Russian Far East (as may be necessary).
