- A Large Batch of Personal Protective Equipment Items to Be Supplied to Medical Professionals in the Russian Far East
Under the Program of assistance to the Far Eastern regions with countering COVID-19 implemented by the Far East and Arctic Region Development Fund (FEDF, affiliated with VEB.RF), at the instruction of Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation — Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the Far Eastern Federal District, supplies of personal protective equipment for medical professionals in the macroregion have been launched. These are special-purpose kits containing germ-proof protective overalls, eye-protection goggles, a respirator, medical gloves, and protective overshoes. The total number of kits to be procured amounts to 100,000.
The funds to purchase the antivirus protection kits and medical equipment for healthcare professionals have been provided by big companies implementing investment projects in the Russian Far East. Fourteen companies have already chosen to join the program. In particular, VEB.RF, Polyus Gold Mining Company, businessman Roman Abramovich, EVRAZ Steel Making and Mining Company, Rushydro Energy Holding, Russian Copper Company, Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port, Kolmar Coal Mining Company, Rushydro Group, RFP Timber Holding, and a number of other companies have already contributed to countering COVID-19 in the macroregion. The target amount of the Program is RUB 1 bln.
“Energetic support on the part of Russian corporate majors will make it possible to enhance the efficiency of the measures to prevent and control the spread of the coronavirus disease adopted by the government. We are continuously working with the Program participants to arrange the supplies of materials and equipment and develop additional tools to counter COVID-19. We thank everyone involved for their commitment and willingness to address these temporary problems together”, said Alexei Chekunkov, CEO of the Far East and Arctic Region Development Fund.
